USISPF To Host Tax Conclave, A Global Perspective On The Multilateral Tax Deal

The conclave will be hosted on 6th march 2023 in the national capital


The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) will be hosting the USISPF Tax Conclave on Monday, March 6 in New Delhi. The conversation will touch on the current developments in international taxation, and progress on the multilateral tax deal, especially in view of ongoing G20 discussions under India’s Presidency. The Conclave will throw light on how international tax changes reflect a change of perspective that business leaders must understand and embrace. The theme will be a Global Perspective on the Multilateral Tax Deal featuring. 

Tarun Bajaj, Former Revenue Secretary, of the Ministry of Finance, shall be making special remarks at the Conclave, which will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Rasmi Ranjan Das, Joint Secretary (Foreign Tax and Tax Research Division), Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance, Pascal Saint-Amans, Former Director of the OECD Center for Tax and Policy Administration and Partner at the Brunswick Group, and Akhilesh Ranjan, Former Member, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Ministry of Finance and Advisor at PwC India. The panel will be moderated by Mukesh Butani, Founder and Managing Partner of BMR Legal.

Speaking on the occasion, Mukesh Aghi, USISPF President and CEO said “one of the key priorities for this government has been to improve the ease of doing business environment in the country. In the past, foreign investors have found navigating the tax labyrinth in India to be complex. Our work at the US-India Tax Forum over the years has been to advocate for a business-friendly tax environment and help investors understand the nuances and frameworks that exist.”

Shweta Kathuria, Director, U.S.-India Tax Forum said, “US India Tax Forum’s Conclave is looking to get a deep dive into the global tax deal which global economies are looking to implement over the next few years. With negotiations on multilateral tax treaty now largely focused on a two-pillared approach taken by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development), it will be interesting to hear a global perspective and an Indian perspective from our esteemed line of speakers.” 

The US-India Tax Forum is USISPF’s specialized platform that allows Government of India policymakers, global tax experts, and the business community to engage and advocate for a tax environment conducive to making India an attractive investment destination.
