Rajasthan, a highly coveted wedding destination in the country, geared up for a bustling wedding season and closed at a revenue exceeding 6,600 crore. Wedding planners and event managers had anticipated over 3 lakh weddings across the state, renowned for its regal ambiance and rich culture, during the wedding season from 23 November to 25 December, 2023.

"On Dev Utthni Ekadashi, 23 November, considered an auspicious wedding date in Hindu rituals, Jaipur alone witnessed over 2,000 marriages, with approximately 45,000 taking place statewide," revealed Mahesh Kumar, a Jaipur-based wedding planner, in a media report.

The wedding season significantly boosted business, reaching a staggering Rs 6,600 crore. The Wedding Industries Federation, Rajasthan, predicted over 3 lakh weddings, including numerous royal ceremonies, within a month. Jaipur alone hosted about 12,000 to 13,000 weddings during this period.

Bhavani Shankar Mali, the Federation's general secretary, highlighted in a report that a modest wedding costs around Rs 10 lakh, while elite ones range from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2.5 crore. Beyond the wedding industry, traders in jewellery, clothing, and food items were optimistic about thriving business.

Mali mentioned that 5-10 per cent of the total marriages involved individuals from outside Rajasthan, and three per cent were high-budget royal unions. Expressing positivity, he had anticipated a 10 per cent increase in marriages compared to 2022.

Rajasthan has solidified its status as a premier destination for lavish Indian weddings, with many celebrity couples choosing the state for its regal and traditional allure.
