Nepal To Host International Rainbow Tourism Conference
Organised by the Nepal Tourism Board and Maya Ko Pahichan Nepal, the event is scheduled for 20 to 21 April 2024 in Kathmandu
Nepal is gearing up to host the 'Yatra 2 Happiness: First Rainbow Tourism International Conference,' a two-day event scheduled for 20 to 21 April in Kathmandu. Organised by the Nepal Tourism Board and Maya Ko Pahichan Nepal, the conference aims to position Nepal as a safe and appealing destination for tourists from the sexual minority community.
The event will see participation of international tourism entrepreneurs, hoteliers, donors, celebrities and media representatives. Sunil Babu Panta, Executive Director, MKPN and Nepal's first LGBT lawmaker, anticipates that the conference will contribute significantly to the economic empowerment of Nepal's LGBT community and boost the tourism sector, aligning with the nation's progress in ensuring the rights and welfare of sexual and gender minorities.
Nandini Lahe Thapa, Acting CEO, Nepal Tourism Board pledges support for promoting rainbow tourism, recognising its potential as a crucial segment of the tourism industry. The conference is expected to attract rainbow tourists, especially from India and China, where progress in the rights and welfare of sexual minorities has been limited.
The comprehensive two-day agenda includes entertainment programs, fashion shows, food festivals, film screenings and enticing travel packages, with the participation of around 150 travel trade operators and hoteliers in the International Rainbow Tourism Conference.
