India’s leading salon and wellness chain will bring its Backstage Heroes program to FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) in Mumbai this October 12-16, 2022. Lakmé Salon & Academy’s experts have been creating trendsetting hair and makeup looks for top Indian designers at the country’s most prestigious fashion week, and then bringing them into the salons to their customers, for over two decades now. This year, the brand brings the aspirational talent program as it steps into its 22nd year at LFW.

Over the years, Lakmé Salon has launched numerous Avante-garde hair and makeup collections, ranging from bridal to pret and couture, at Lakmé Fashion Week since the inception the property. Not only does Lakmé Salon partner with and sponsor one Runway show with a leading designer every season, but the experts also go backstage to create magic for numerous other Runway and Atelier shows during the course of the week.

From Nachiket Bharve and Payal Singhal to Varun Bahl and Neeta Lulla, Lakmé Salon has collaborated with Indian fashion’s creme de la creme to create showstopping looks, season on season. This year, handpicked Backstage Heroes from Lakmé Salon & Academy will create showstopping looks for an array of designers, before bringing them into the salon for the customers.

For the main show, Lakmé Salon has partnered with ace designer Samant Chauhan to present “The Nomad Bride”, a collection that celebrates the backbone of every sartorial piece – the fabric – engulfed in a central Asian, tribal theme. This is the story of a girl from Central Asia who journeys through the Silk Route, carrying with her memories of her childhood into her new marital home.

The key makeup looks for this collection are the Golden Diva, encapsulated by blue and green hues on the eyes, a gold glow on the skin and soft, feathery eyebrows; the Pearl Goddess, signified by a dreamy pearl look and glass glow skin; and the Tribular Look, with smokey eyes, bronzed skin and matte lips.

The hair will be characterised by flowing waves, unstructured updos, Russian braids and infinity braids interwoven with fabric and lots of hair accessories, to celebrate the Nomad Bride’s free spirit.

Additionally, Lakmé Salon & Academy’s Backstage Heroes will also be creating stunning hair and makeup looks for a host of other designers during the season, including Anand Kabra, Gauri & Nainika and Anju Modi.

Speaking on taking this program from Lakmé Salon to FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week, Pushkaraj Shenai, CEO & Executive Director, Lakmé Lever, said, “Our experts weave magic at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week every season and then democratise the high-fashion hair and makeup looks in the salon for the customer. Year on year, trendsetting beauty takes the Runway to High Street route, via Lakmé Salon. We’re excited to now bring the Lakmé Salon & Academy Backstage Heroes program to fashion week, as it gives our experts the opportunity to showcase and hone their skills, while being in the thick of one of India’s most aspirational events, before delighting their clients with the looks they create. As we step into our 22nd year at LFW, here’s raising a toast to the next 22.”
