EMC INDIA FORUM 2013 ATTENDEES SET A NEW TWITTER RECORD
Oct 21st, 2013, Mumbai: The fourth edition of - EMC India Forum was about a lot more than speakers, conversations and discussions. In fact, it came with a twist, where the attendees of the event, joined hands with EMC India to enter The Asia Book of Records with a brand new record for the “Most number of tweets generated from a single venue in 15 minutes”.
A renowned platform for CIOs/ CTOs and emerging leaders to collaborate and discuss IT thought leadership, best practices, innovations and implementation strategies, the EMC India Forum 2013 aimed at understanding, discussing and celebrating the magnitude of Cloud and Big Data. To exemplify the power of these, a unique twitter activity was conducted, which generated over 373 tweets in a total of 15 minutes, made the hashtag (#emcforum) trend at rank one in India and rank six worldwide and established a distinctive record.
Commenting at the event, Amit Mehta, Director, Marketing EMC India & SAARC “The EMC forum brings great minds together to build great conversations. We wanted to establish the significance of Big Data and Cloud in today¹s times, a theme to be discussed at this event. An activity such as this , not only conveyed the message in an interesting manner but also added the right amount of light heartedness needed in what is otherwise a serious business event”.
Before entering into a series of rigorous sessions around Cloud, Big data and Trust, the attendees engaged in this light hearted and fun twitter activity, sending out laughs via twitter with a specific hashtag .Eg: Hahahaha #emcforum. As people tweeted, a live feed, with their names, tweets and pictures appeared in little boxes with wings, which flew across the screen. Another animated bar kept count of the tweets generated and filled up as more and more tweets came in.
The concept was designed and developed by Digivaasi, a New Delhi-based digital agency. Prabhat Bhatnagar, Chief Creative Officer, Digivaasi, said “EMC India has always been open to a little fun and doing something creative and that’s where we come in. Our pursuit has always been to engage with people in the most interesting ways possible. So we thought, why not take social media, one of the biggest sources of Big Data and fuse it with laughter, the best thing in the world?!”
