7th North East Youth Festival Sees Meghalaya Contingent Secure Top Honour

The festival, held from 26 to 29 February, witnessed cultural exchanges and competitions among young people from across the Northeast region

The Meghalaya contingent, led by Bobby Wahlang, Youth Coordinator of Meghalaya, Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, returned home after securing top honour at the 7th North East Youth Festival held in Agartala, Tripura. The festival, held from 26 to 29 February, witnessed cultural exchanges and competitions among young people from across the Northeast region.

The Meghalaya contingent, comprising 76 young individuals from 11 districts, secured a victory in the rock band category. The contingent also secured a set of first runner-up positions in the folk dance, folk song, one-act play, painting, photography and solo guitar categories.

Additionally, the participants at the festival were winners in the Meghalaya Youth Exchange Program 2023 in their respective categories, which took place at Nehu Campus from 17 to 20 October 2023.

The festival also witnessed the attendance of Dr Manik Saha, Chief Minister, Tripura and Tinku Roy, Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Department amongst others.
