Wizcraft executes ‘Best City Awards 2014’, Title Sponsors PC Jewellers

Just when you thought that there could possibly be no more awards functions out there, the Best City Awards remind us how profoundly wrong one can be. In its second edition this year the idea behind the ABP News- Best City Awards is to recognize and reward progressive cities in the country and in turn encourage other cities to adopt a more integrated approach towards urban development.

The event was held on 11 March at Hotel The Lalit, New Delhi. It was executed by Wizcraft and is an annual property of ABP News.

Sponsors include PC Jeweller as Title Sponsor, Amrapali as ‘Powered By’ partner, Dena Bank and National Skill Development Corporation as Associate Sponsors, Dainik Bhaskar as print partner and Institute of Competitiveness as Knowledge partner.

Delhi topped in three categories (Healthcare, Public Transport, Primary Education) in the ABP News- Best City Awards 2014 making it the best city in India to live in at the moment.Ahmedabad has been presented the title of ‘Best Power’ in the country. Uttar Pradesh’s Noida bagged the title for ‘Most Affordable Housing’.Winners were decided on the basis of categories such as housing, cleanliness & sanitation, primary education, environment, public services, public transport, healthcare and power.

Keeping in line with the theme of the event the skyline of a metropolitan city was replicated on the stage using 3D panels and fixtures to mimic high-rise buildings and skyscrapers. Even the trophy has been designed in the shape of a statuesque tower.

The event had in its attendance several notable personalities from the political fraternity. Singer Harshdeep Kaur kick started the event with the prayer ‘IkOnkar’ and later went on to sing the popular number ‘JugniJi’.  Actor Aamir Khan also graced the event and stated that Mumbai is the clear deserving winner of the ‘best city’ title in his opinion.

Speaking on the association with ‘Best City Awards’, Balram Garg, Owner, PC Jeweller said, “PC Jeweller is associated with the Best City Awards as we see it as a step in the right direction. There is great negativity in our country at the moment with almost everyone speaking of the ills and the incapability of our governance. In the process it seems we have forgotten to celebrate the good things. The Best City Awards is a reminder of just that and we are proud to partner with such an initiative”.
