Wasan Group launches 'The English Manner Finishing and Style academy'

Wasan Knowledge Hub, the educational initiative of the Wasan Group, in association with The English Manner and Style Directions, launched 'The English Manner Finishing and Style Academy', at their new premises at The Hyatt Regency  hotel, Mumbai. The launch was graced by Mr Ben Aldred, First Secretary, The British Deputy High Commission, Mumbai and Ms Sushmita Sen, former Miss Universe, style icon and actress.



The English Manner Finishing and Style Academy is an initiative of the Wasan Knowledge Hub which brings together the United Kingdom’s most reputed etiquette and styling companies to India. This venture is a first of its kind in India. The Academy marks the entry of two reputed and organized international experts in the field of corporate styling and etiquette training.



Formed in 1961, the Wasan Group, one of the most trustworthy names in the automobile sales and services sector in India, has launched the Academy under the Wasan Knowledge Hub. Its mission is to cater for the growing need for training in style and etiquette to India’s rapidly expanding professional workforce. Bookings for its courses will commence on Tuesday, 2nd December 2014.



The event commenced with a detailed presentation by the Managing Director of The English Manner, Mr Jimmy Beale. He outlined a history of The English Manner, a unique British company providing international training and consultancy in contemporary etiquette, protocol, social skills, the arts and household management. Mr. Beale mentioned that the company has offices in China, Dubai, North America and Africa, and associate offices in many other countries. “Founded in 2001 by Alexandra Messervy, formerly of the Royal Household of Her Majesty The Queen, The English Manner provides worldwide personal development, cultural, hospitality and social skills training to an international clientele of all ages,” said Mr Beale.



Carol Spenser, Founder and Managing Director of Style Directions, shared the importance of style in boosting one’s confidence, self esteem and success in all walks of life, both personal and professional.  Ms Spenser commented, "After the completion of our Style and Image Programme, its valuable personal knowledge will help you to select your most flattering garments, colours, hairstyles, glasses and other accessories. Moreover, you will learn to build a flexible and fashionable wardrobe to suit your age, lifestyle and personality and give you an understanding of how to update it each year to keep your look contemporary". As a finishing touch, Ms Spenser also stated that women attending the academy will receive cosmetic tuition by experts trained by leading international, celebrity Make-Up Artist, Ariane Poole.



A close friend and well-wisher of the Wasan Group, Aditya Puri, Managing Director, HDFC Bank, was represented by his wife, Mrs. Puri. When sharing his thoughts, she said, "Today’s competitive professional world demands smart, confident, well groomed and trained professionals. Mr. Puri is happy that Wasan Knowledge Hub is bringing international expertise in these areas to India. We wish them luck in their new venture"

Sushmita Sen, Miss Universe 1994, known for her crisp and elegant dress sense, also talked about the importance of grooming in one’s life. She elaborated upon how effective grooming and etiquette have helped her excel in the varied roles she plays in real life – that of an actress, super model, entrepreneur etc. She said, “Today, everyone from children to young adults and fresh professionals can get an early head-start in life with mastering the most important tool of success – right etiquette and grooming. Perfect styling, coupled with etiquette gives one a charm and poise and also what sets them apart”



The modules offered by the academy cater to the overall development of individuals from all age groups, backgrounds and are formulated to help them achieve their social and professional ambitions. True to this offering, the academy will be the first of its kind in India to offer effective etiquette and grooming lessons to children of 4 years and above, followed by modules for young adults; young professionals; corporate clients of all levels and individuals. Comprehensive courses designed specifically for ladies are also available, covering all aspects of etiquette, social skills, style, colour and fashion.
