Volano to organize 2nd Devils Circuit Swift Challenge in Chennai

The annual amateur obstacle running race Devils Circuit Swift Challenge is back in Chennai for its second edition.

This year’s challenge starts off at 6 am on Sunday, 11 September 2016. The event was hosted last year at Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam; this year too, the sports-themed project conceptualized by real estate magnate Niranjan Hiranandani will be the venue.

DCSC returning to Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam for the consecutive second year underscores the aspect of the township being among the biggest sports destinations in Chennai and its neighboring areas. The project, by Hiranandani Communities, offers a plethora of sports and fitness activities which include both, indoor and outdoor activities. Exclusive to the project are sports activities including polo, a 9 hole golf course, an Olympic sized swimming pool, equestrian events, a horses stable as also a large cricket ground. Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam being the host venue of DCSC 2016, underscores the aspect of being the ultimate real estate project for sports and fitness enthusiasts in Chennai and its neighboring areas.

The five kilometer long obstacle running race will have nearly 3000 registered participants overcoming obstacles of all kinds, making it a ‘must participate’ event for fitness enthusiasts in Chennai. “The event will showcase sports and fitness related aspects of the project’s master planning,” said Niranjan Hiranandani, CMD, Hiranandani Communities. “We have created ‘community living’ at Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam. It goes beyond home owners being just neighbors - and activities like DCSC fits in perfectly with the project’s health and fitness theme,” he said.

Going beyond just square feet of constructed space, real estate development should be about the community which is made up of residents and the activities that bring them together. Niranjan Hiranandani explains ‘community living’ as the scenario in which a resident does not just live in the township, but shares – and enjoys - the positives of the location and its social infrastructure with neighbors. It is this aspect which will come to the fore during this year’s DCSC; arguably among the most preferred ‘first-of-its-kind’ televised corporate challenge which determines the ‘Fittest Corporate’ in the country. The event, is also open for individuals, and offers the option of ‘just participating’ as well as ‘competing.’

This year’s event has leading corporate entities from Chennai being a part of the event, be it as sponsors or having their teams participating in the event. Positioned as ‘India´s Leading Obstacle Run’, the event has two categories: (1) Open, where participants do not necessarily have to cross all the hurdles; and (2) Competitive, where they need to complete the full course for a podium finish. In the competitive category, participants will be given timing chips; the top 3 male and female finishers will get prizes. To qualify for the ranking, participants must attempt and complete every single obstacle on the course, and while each finisher will get a timing certificate.

Explaining why the event and the venue were a ‘perfect match’, Niranjan Hiranandani pointed out that Oragadam is a real estate ‘hot-spot’ because of Corporates who have set up operations in the region. Not just do these promote business activities and economic growth, but as Corporates participating in DCSC, they also promotes fitness and healthy living. Automobile and related organizations have set up operations in this region; IT and ITeS is also an important job creator for the region. The ‘fitness promoting job creators’ of Oragadam include Renault Nissan, Moser Baer, Komatsu, Ashok Leyland, Toyota, Apollo Tyres and TVS, these make Oragadam a preferred destination for real estate growth. DCSC is about teams from corporate entities who try to do better than the other participating corporate entities. Niranjan Hiranandani particularly likes the aspect of DCSC being a superb ‘team building’ activity, and he says it fits in perfectly with the positive image of both, the project, Hiranandani Parks as also the location, Oragadam.

It is not just being the venue for DCSC; Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam is something larger – a community comprising residents of the township, who will share a very special relationship with each other and with sports and fitness amidst nature. “DCSC is not just about the fittest taking part; it’s also about camaraderie, bettering personal records and taking a break from the mundane scheme of things, said Niranjan Hiranandani. “Events like DCSC make life interesting; are the different aspects which re-define ‘Community Living’. Hiranandani Parks, Oragadam will be an apt example of green, mixed-use townships. While setting the ‘benchmark’, the township will go on to become a ‘landmark’ of ‘community living’,” he concluded.
