Vocalist Vidushi Sunanda Sharma Performs at Amphitheatre, Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi

Born to a musical family in a hill town in Himachal, Sunanda has embraced music since her early years under the guidance of her father Pandit Sudarshan Sharma.

In these times full of chaos, what could be better than allowing the tranquility of Purab Ang Gayaki to calm your senses! Vidushi Sunanda Sharma, a renowned vocalist of Benaras Gharana, a disciple of Padmavibhushan Girija Devi, had transported everyone  into the world of earthiness, on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at Amphitheatre, Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi. 

In her performance, Sunanda had taken all through a musical journey which had depicted every element she is made up of; her roots, her life and her evolution as an artiste all woven together in subtlety brought forth to compose one evening to remember.

Purab Ang Gayaki is one style of Indian Classical Music which is called “Charon Pat ki Gayaki” and is equally adorned with different classical and semi classical genre. Sunanda Sharma sings each and every style with love and dedication.

Through musical affairs like this, organizers are making an attempt to help the art trickle down to younger generation and help them appreciate Indian Classical Music and every genre it envelops.

Sunanda Sharma is known for her prowess in Khayal, Tappa, Thumri, Dadra and Chaiti style of singing, she has also spread her wings in the genre of Punjabi and Himachali folk as well as devotional music. Over the years the artiste has nurtured her gayaki by weaving shastra and bhav paksh together to perfection. With her musical versatility she has enriched lives of aspiring artistes as well as connoisseurs of performing arts through her performances and workshops all across the globe.

She post graduated with a Gold Medal as Masters in Indian classical vocal music from Punjab University and as luck would have it, she was soon training under Padmavibhushan Smt. Girija Devi ji in Banaras for 9 years under guru shishya parampara and is the lead vocalist amongst young generation to carry her legacy forward.

On this occasion, Sunanda expressed her happiness saying, "It’s a beautiful occasion when you celebrate the season by singing different Chaities and compositions from other styles based on love and Nature".
