Usha Bangalore Ultimate Open Flying Disc Tournament

Usha International Limited, an Indian household consumer durables company is keenly promoting Ultimate Frisbee in India; a game played using a flying disc. For the last 25 years the company has been a supporter of sports and taking this commitment forward, the company is powering the Usha Bangalore Ultimate Open-Flying Disc Tournament 2014, for the second time in a row. This tournament was held at the Jain International Residential School campus on Kanakapura Road, Bangalore, on 27th, 28th and 29th of June.



Usha International has been consistently supporting Ultimate for the last three years as it merges well with the company’s brand ethos ‘Play’. Ultimate is a game played using a flying disc called Frisbee and is the fastest growing team sport in the world. It is perhaps the only sport where men and women play together on the same ground and is self- refereed. The beauty of the sport lies in the simplicity of the game, which is why Usha International is making efforts to spread the sport amongst the youth.



Usha Bangalore Ultimate Open Flying Disc Tournament witnessed participation of over 24 teams from across the country. The games kicked off on June 27th 2014 and the final match was played on 29th June from 2:30pm to 4:00 pm. The tournament was a mixed format tournament with a fixed man to woman ratio on each team at any given time with restriction on age limit.



Usha International is committed to help improve the quality of life for women and youth through sports and skill development activities. The Usha Bangalore Ultimate Open 2014 is part of the company’s larger effort in promoting sports. The company has been promoting a wide array of sporting events which include Cricket, Ladies Golf Events, Junior Golf and Training Programmes, Mawana Marathon and Ultimate Flying Disc Tournaments. In the last two years, the company has also opened over 3000 ‘Silai Schools’ in the heart of rural India to empower rural women towards becoming self-reliant.
