Time to transform policy into practice; EEMA plans to put together an event to educate
EEMA in partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, will be hosting an event titled “India is an Event – We’re ready for Safe Events” in Delhi, Kochi and Goa and Chandigarh.
The Government of India announces the Social/ academic/ sports/ entertainment/ cultural/ religious/ political functions and other congregations to be permitted from the 21st September 2020 with a ceiling of 100 people. But the hard reality is that there are no special SOPs released as guidelines officially to help organisers analyze and plan effectively to protect everyone.
EEMA, the apex body for the event and entertainment industry in India feels the responsibility and has already indicated to the government that it is ready to take the responsibility and participate in developing intricately planned SOPs for the various kinds of events that are organized in India.
EEMA had recently released a set of SOPs for the Industry stakeholders through digital events and has also been interacting with Govt. stakeholders regularly to discuss the SOPs prepared by the Industry. It has urged the Govt. officials to look at implementing it as a part of their genetic guidelines and make it mandatory for all to follow.
EEMA in the current situation when the events are going to be opened on 21st September 2020, has decided to reach out to the industry stakeholders and clients in the cities and give them a custom designed simulated experience of an event. The event would be displaying all security protocols and safety measures to be followed as a part of the best practices in the current times to ensure safe and secure events. Not just to secure clients and guests but also for the organisers, the event crew and other service providers physically present at the venue during the event.
EEMA in partnership with Marriott Bonvoy, will be hosting the event titled “India is an Event – We’re ready for Safe Events”, on 21st September, 2020 in Delhi, Kochi and Goa and in Chandigarh on 22nd September, 2020.
The event will showcase a simulated event set-up of the corporate / wedding event along with demonstration of the SOPs shared by EEMA adhering to all necessary procedures and safety protocols for smooth and successful execution of events. This will be followed by a safe Events Workshop conducted by experts to get more information and details towards better event planning.
EEMA is looking forward to building confidence in the local government stakeholders and ensure that EEMA would be working along in making this country a safe place to conduct events along with helping EEMA to further help stakeholders to display their skills of effective planning and preparedness for the post COVID times.
The venue protocols will also be strictly followed. All guests will have to wear masks and show their current status on the Aarogya Setu app on their mobile phones. They will be provided with alcohol based sanitizers during the event and will maintain a 4 Sq. Mtr. physical distance. Participants experiencing any kind of the symptoms in respect of the virus, will not be allowed to enter. Travel history within 15 days before arrival of all the guests was also thoroughly checked before the event. Signage and digital messaging will be prominently displayed throughout for awareness.
Siddhartha Chaturvedi, General Secretary, EEMA, said, “We’ve received a really good response to the SOPs which we launched last month. We’re glad all event professionals have gone through them and tried understanding their need and importance. Some of them have also written to us sharing their glitches and concerns. So analyzing this entire scenario and the exhaustive details, we look forward to organize this event to showcase a practical session for these guidelines and educate our members and industry stakeholders on it. Seeing is believing, and with this we ensure that adhering to these is easy.” He also added, “As per Unlock 4.0, Government has allowed events up to 100 guests from 21st September, so we plan to do this event on this very day and take this charge of organizing successful safe events.”
Shampa Dhali, Area Director, National Sales, India, said, “Marriott welcomes EEMA’s initiative in support of safe events SOPs unveiled for the industry. This is aligned to Marriott International’s commitment to clean global program as we welcome our guest back to our hotels around the world and committed to providing them with a safe environment that aligns with expert protocols on safety and hygiene. Our collaboration with EEMA on Safe Events campaign reflects our commitment to evolve our solutions to ensure a continued focus on the health and safety of our guests and associates when hosting an Event.”
The Delhi Event will take place in Le Meridien, Gurugram. Whereas, Le Meridien in Kochi, Marriott Resort in Goa and JW Marriott in Chandigarh have been finalized in other cities.
