The Coalition by OML readies for Mumbai debut, to feature Hosi Simon, Kunal Shah
The ‘Festival of creativity’, The Coalition connected by Hike Messenger, comes to Mumbai for the first time, after three successful years in the capital. The Coalition brings India’s creative community together with the aim of fuelling the next wave of creative ventures in the country.
The festival when it started in 2014 was set up as a creative enterprise boot camp, a quick stop to learn how to navigate the business of creativity. It then gave way to a festival that spoke to both, creatives as individuals, and creatives as a part of an industry, a movement.
Vijay Nair, CEO, Only Much Louder says, “The Coalition was born out of sheer frustration of attending entrepreneurship conferences in India where the creative industry had almost no presence. Of course, that stemmed from the larger issue that the creative sector is not even recognised as an Industry by decision/policy makers. Over three years we have been able to build a community of young entrepreneurs who were able to get an insight into building businesses in India from the finest minds of our industry. It’s going to be exciting to see the response to it in Mumbai, where the heart of the Indian creative industry lies. “
The Coalition has hosted leaders, innovators and experts not just from the creative fields but also from new technology businesses, brands and media platforms. Past speakers and panelists at the festival include Arvind Kejriwal (Chief Minister, Delhi), Vijay Shekhar Sharma (CEO, PayTM), Anjula Acharia-Bath (Manager, Priyanka Chopra), film director, Anurag Kashyap Sonia Singh (Editor, NDTV), Sambit Bal (Editor-in-chief, ESPNCricinfo), fashion designer, Anita Dongre, as well as artists in music and comedy including Abish Mathew, Radhika Vaz, Ankur Tewari, Raghu Dixit and Nucleya.
The debut edition in Mumbai on March 31 – April 1 will see key names from the creative industry join including Hosi Simon (Global General Manager VICE), internationally renowned sports presenter Harsha Bhogle, actor & comedian Mallika Dua, Kunal Shah (Founder, Freecharge), comedian Zakir Khan, Lakshmi Pratury (Founder & CEO, INK), Rega Jha (Editor, Buzzfeed India) along with Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya of comedy collective AIB. More speakers at the festival will be announced soon.
The Mumbai edition of the festival also carries forward the practice of providing fellowships to encourage creative entrepreneurship. The Coalition’s Fellowship Program 2017 is powered by RedBull.com, and provides free entry to the festival for deserving young entrepreneurs and students. Festival tickets priced at Rs. 599 for the day and Rs. 999 for both days are on sale on Insider.in.
