The race is going to be conducted under the aegis of Goa Swimming Association and is recognized by Swimming Federation of India (SFI) as the ''Open Water Swimming Indian Selection Trial''. The fastest swimmer - Male and Female in both 5 KM and 10 KM race will represent India in the FINA World Championships - Open Water Event to be held at Kazan, Russia in July 2015.

This event is a celebration of start of spring in India. It provides a unique opportunity to swim one of the most beautiful stretches of open water in South Goa, at what we believe is the most beautiful time of the day, dawn. Athletes will race against each other and the elements in the open sea, swimming a distance of 10 km and 5 km in separate categories.

''Swimathon 2015'' is not only an opportunity for excellent talent from across the nation to be identified, but also for those seeking adventure, to experience the thrill of braving and conquering the elements. With the sport being included in the Olympic event list from 2012 and ''Swimathon 2015'' recognized by SFI as the Indian Selection Trial, it has gained even greater significance as a platform for identifying and nurturing young promising Open Sea Swimming Indian talent.
