Script, Content Is My Priority Whether Its A movie Or Ad Film: Varun Dhawan

In an interview with Everything Experiential and BW Applause, Varun Dhawan talked about #WhatsUpwithVarun campaign, his upcoming films, and more.

Smartphone brand OPPO has appointed Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan as the brand ambassador for the second time. Now, OPPO has launched a promotional campaign, in order to promote the new Special Edition OPPO F19s

In an interview with Everything Experiential and BW Applause, Varun Dhawan talked about #WhatsUpwithVarun campaign, his upcoming films, and more.

Q. Why did you associate with the #WhatsUpwithVarun campaign? What appealed to you?  

Ans- I have been associated with OPPO for nearly a year for various product launches that are innovative and offer a great set of features. While I am not a tech-obsessed person, I love innovative brands. Talking about my recent association with #WhatsUpwithVarun campaign, what intrigued me was the fast-charging capabilities of the OPPO F19s, which is an amazing offering by the brand.  

OPPO F series products are mid-range smartphones that are purchased by a wide customer base offering some great features. The brand recently celebrated its 10M customer for the F series and this is a testament to its success in this price bracket. I believe that OPPO as a brand helps me connect to a wider fan base and it is always fun to associate with them given the innovations they bring to the table.   

Q. Your fans have been patiently waiting for your films. What is up with Varun Dhawan?  

Ans- Well, my upcoming film Bediya and Jug Jug Jeeyo will be released in 2022 and I am looking forward to that. I am super thrilled to connect with my fans before the release of both my films and I am sure my association with my OPPO fan family will be exciting.  

Q. You have been associated with OPPO for different products. Why did you choose OPPO?  

Ans- OPPO is a stylish and innovative brand that offers products across price brackets for a wide set of users, including students. I’ve come to learn that the brand has introduced some brilliant industry-first features in their smartphones, while also offering 5G accessibility. OPPO also offers other features such as the shark fin camera in the Reno 3, Bokeh Flare portrait video features, and VOOC flash charging technology across the F and Reno series.  

Q. What message would you like to give to a loved one as a part of this campaign and to whom? 

Ans- I would like to share a message of gratitude with my fans and OPPO users who have showered us with so much love and support. It is because of them, we are today touching millions of hearts and continue to do what we do best, whether in terms of smartphone technology or entertainment. 

Q. OPPO and you have been on an exciting journey with OPPO F series products and F19s being a special edition, can you tell us which feature do you like the most and why?  

Ans- As stated earlier, I have enjoyed being part of the OPPO F series smartphones and with their latest F19s launch, I am sure they are going to excite and impress their customers adding cheer to the festivities. I’ve experienced the F19s smartphone, and I am impressed with its festive gold color, slim design,5000mAh battery with 33W flash charge that is both safe and quick as well as a crisp Amoled display. 

Q. What has been your experience so far with this campaign?  

Ans- It’s been an exciting journey being part of the OPPO F series, given I am always intrigued with the latest advancements and technological innovations. OPPO F series products offer great features that my fans like, for instance, the fast-charging capacity, SMS alerts, and other features. '#WhatsUpwithVarun' has been an exciting and fun campaign, where through some quirky videos I will be intriguing my fans about the upcoming OPPO F19s.  

Q. To what extent were you involved in conceptualizing the campaign, since it involves you?  

Ans- Whether I am doing a movie or an ad film, the idea, the script, and content is of utmost priority for me and that’s what drives me to give my best shot. OPPO and I have a long-standing relationship and I have always been part of campaign conceptualization to ensure that it amalgamates the brand philosophy and my personality very well. When I agreed to be part of the #WhatsUpwithVarun campaign, I found the idea extremely exciting as it seemed to be an exciting way to communicate about a new smartphone to customers.  

Q. Tell us how you managed your time during the lockdown? Was it a difficult phase? How did you manage to share your feelings with your loved ones?  

Ans- The lockdown and this pandemic have been difficult for everyone, including me. I used to listen to music, watch films, and keep myself engaged with indoor sports or fitness activities. The only way we could stay positive was by staying in touch with our loved ones, participating in some initiative to help people in need during this difficult time, short an entire show for Flipkart TV from home, reading many scripts, and staying connected with my fans on social media.  

Q. Usage of screen time has gone up during the pandemic and people are constantly online; what is your advice to fans who are browsing the internet for interesting things to watch online? 

Ans- The lockdown induced by the pandemic resulted in huge demand for OTT content in India. Today, consumers have no shortage of interesting things to watch online: YouTube videos, sports, music concerts, sitcoms, documentaries, and movies. In fact, my Coolie No 1 was an OTT release, and fans could enjoy it because of smartphones like OPPO F19s, which offers a crisp widescreen display and long battery life; this is almost like having a mini theatre in your pocket.
