Strengthening its endeavour to be the most sought after premium fitness brand in the country, Reebok India concluded the first-ever community run, the ‘Race the City’ challenge, in Bengaluru on May 13th. The brand’s initiative was integrated with the launch of its running mobile application. Aptly named as ‘Race the City’, the mobile application provides running enthusiasts a platform to run with those who share a passion for fitness.
The entire world is going digital and the need for people to share details about their routine and their various activities with their network on social media is growing ground. Reebok has provided the ideal platform for runners to track their run, break previous records and compete with fellow runners and also share their fitness activity on Facebook and Twitter.
Prior to the day of the community run, Reebok took the social media route to reach out to people. The official Facebook page of the brand, which has 2.6 million followers till date, was used as a medium to promote the activity. The fitness race witnessed an overwhelming response from over 513 runners and covered eight major Reebok Fit Hub stores in Bengaluru. The brand shortlisted eight runners-seven men and one woman, through an intensive fitness test conducted at CrossFit 12th Main powered by Reebok.

The small communities created by each participating runner sprinted across the city for the intense relay race starting from Jayanagar Reebok Fit Hub store and ending at Koramangala Indoor stadium where the expo was organized.
The brand employed this platform to promote its mobile application. All participants tracked their run on the ‘Reebok Race the City’ fitness application and earned ‘Ignite’ rewards that can be redeemed from any Reebok store in India. The app served as the baton in the race which recorded the time and total number of kilometers covered by each team.
Mr. Somdeb Basu, Brand Director, Reebok India, shared his excitement at the event and said, ‘Being a fitness enthusiast myself, I absolutely loved the excitement amongst all runners. This community run aims to inspire more and more people to take up fitness as a bigger part of their lives and adopt the philosophy of being ‘Fit for Life’.
