Having built and supported over 330 schools till date that will impact the lives  of over 6,00,000 children, P&G’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility program P&G Shiksha continues to march forward with the motto ‘Padhega India, Badhega India’. In its 11th year, P&G Shiksha continues to make the necessary infrastructure interventions by building and supporting schools across the country thereby giving children the access to education. Extending his support towards this noble initiative, legendary cricketer Rahul Dravidvisited the P&G Shiksha School in Bengaluru. Rahul Dravid as a cricketer has always been interested in being associated with young players and believes in molding them into their future selves and today, Dravid taught the children some of his best strokes. He also encouraged them to take up sports while maintaining a good balance with their academics. It was indeed wonderful to see the children mimicking the legendary cricketer and his strokes along with paying keen attention to his advice on the importance of education and tips on cricket. He also engaged in conversations with the children who asked the cricket veteran questions about his school days.

In Karnataka, P&G Shiksha has improved the lives of more than 3436 under-privileged children by providing them with quality education, by building and supporting 22 schools. While in Bengaluru alone, P&G Shiksha has improved the lives of 1236 students by building and supporting 36 classrooms across 8 schools. With the objective of providing access to education to every child across the nation, P&G Shiksha is working extensively by making key infrastructure interventions. P&G Shiksha has been instrumental in the change by equipping the schools with necessary amenities from building classrooms to building toilets, providing clean drinking water to setting up playgrounds in not only Bengaluru but the whole of Karnataka as well.

Rahul Dravid laid emphasis on the importance education is for building a secure future for an individual and in turn for the entire country and together with P&G Shiksha urged consumers to make the simple brand choice and join the program’s drive by purchasing P&G products such as Tide, Ariel, Whisper, Pampers, Olay, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Vicks, Gillette, Oral-B & AmbiPur. These purchases enable the company to channelize part of the sales proceeds towards building and supporting schools across the country.

Rahul Dravid  expressed his delight  by saying, “I have been supporting P&G Shiksha over the years by choosing P&G products and today I am very happy to visit the P&G Shiksha school and witness the difference it has made in the lives of the children here in Bengaluru. I strongly believe that education is extremely important for every child’s growth, however focusing on overall development is also very important. I am happy to see the hunger and enthusiasm in P&G Shiksha school children today and look forward to more children coming through the ranks and make it to the Indian Cricket team – the next Rahul Dravid could be from this very classroom. By encouraging students in this school to balance their academics with sports, not only is P&G Shiksha focusing on overall development of the students but are also creating a pathway for the these children to get bright career opportunities in the future.

He further added, “I am glad to be a part of it because I strongly feel that education is a basic right to be provided to all children. It is heartening to see a movement like P&G Shiksha that facilitates education for underprivileged children, by empowering its consumers to contribute towards the cause by purchasing P&G products. As the India under 19 and ‘A’ Team coach, it is a privilege to interact  with such talented students at the P&G Shiksha schools and encourage them to take up sports as I believe that a good combination of academics and sports go a long way in moulding and building character of an individual. P&G Shiksha has taken up a great initiative of educating children all over the country which has resulted in a remarkable difference in their lives and we all should continue to help them do that by making a simple choice of buying P&G products, so that many more children will have a bright future ahead of them.”
