NGO Tamana teams up with FDCI to host fashion show 'Infinite Opportunity' at Hyatt Regency Delhi

NGO Tamana, a brainchild of Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee Dr Shayama Chona, in association with Fashion Design Council of India and hospitality partner Hyatt Regency New Delhi hosted a fashion show, “Infinite Opportunity”.


Draped in ensembles by coveted designers, the differently-abled children of the NGO Tamana, walked the ramp at a fashion show, titled “Infinite Opportunity” held on August 26, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in the capital.

Mrs. Sangeeta Jaitely graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. H.E. Ms. Harinder Sidhu, Australian High Commissioner to India was the Guest of Honour, Bollywood star Kriti Sanon was the Champion of the cause of Disability, Sunil Sethi was the Torch Bearer of Inclusion, along with other distinguished attendees present at this annual event.

The evening began with a welcome song by visually impaired singer, Diwakar Sharma and Miss Teen Universe 2017, Srishti Kaur also supported the cause walking as the Model of Inclusion. Kriti Sanon, Shiv Jatia, Sonal Kalra and Sunil Sethi were awarded for their contribution to the cause.

Walking along with leading models wearing ensembles crafted by FDCI designers - Abraham & Thakore, Anju Modi, Gaurav Jai Gupta, Payal Jain, Amit Aggarwal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Payal Pratap Singh and Sanjay Garg; children of Tamana exuded confidence.

There was a special sequence by the budding designers from Pearl Academy of the ensembles constructed in the Pearl Academy Fashion Laboratory in Jail no. 6, of Tihar, by the inmates, who are currently enrolled in the fashion program.

The evening also saw Tamana Chona, dressed in a designer outfit, which wrapped up the event as she expressed her gratitude to the audience at the show.

For the last 10 years, Tamana has been organising this event to encourage inclusion and with the support of the fashion fraternity in their individual capacities. Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Shayama Chona, Founder and President of Tamana NGO said, “This year’s show tagline is ‘Infinite Opportunity’, which means that the opportunities for the disabled have no barriers. The reason for holding the Tamana fashion show, every year, is to bring greater confidence and dignity into the lives of the specially-abled. I believe that these individuals are not lesser but, more than any of us.”

Sunil Sethi, President FDCI added “It is an honour for us to associate with the devoted efforts of Tamana year by year. Tamana’s annual fashion show has over the years depicted that fashion does not discriminate and the differently-abled can also fulfil their aspirations of looking fashionable."
