Ministry of Petroleum sponsors Cyclothon Saksham Pedal Delhi, Meraki to manage
Saksham Pedal Delhi is a Cyclothon that aims to propagate the importance of fuel conservation and efficient energy utilization, amongst the citizens of our National Capital.
In an effort to instil socio-environmental consciousness, Saksham Pedal Delhi is an initiative by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), a non-profit organization setup in 1978 under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, engaged in promoting energy efficiency in various sections of the economy.
Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium will host the event, scheduled for the 5th of November 2017 and will also create a platform for India’s athletes to compete. In association with the Cycling Federation of India & Doit Sports, Saksham Pedal Delhi will leverage sport to create mass awareness for the conservation of petroleum products.
Marketed and managed by Meraki Sport & Entertainment and Choose My Bicycle, Saksham Pedal Delhi, will see over 5000 participants, across various event categories – Elite cyclists, Amateur ride (30km), Open 10K(10km) and Green ride (5km). The criterium races will be conducted on a 10km course with the India Gate as a backdrop.
Saksham Pedal Delhi aims to provide an opportunity for all environment enthusiasts to come together for a common cause of preserving the environment. Sports is an excellent medium to integrate with a social agenda as it inspires people from all walks of life. This initiative is way of creating environmental awareness and educating people on how to reduce pollution levels and make our cities cleaner and greener places to live in.
There would also be an option of Renting a Cycle for the event.
