McDonald’s yesterday introduced its world famous FIFA World Cup Player Escort Program’ in India to provide one lucky child in the age group of 6-10 year, with an opportunity of a lifetime – a chance to not only meet their football heroes, but to hold their hands and accompany them on to the field of play at the largest football event on Earth - 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

Football is the second most popular sport in India after Cricket. The McDonald's Player Escort Program is part of McDonald's commitment to children’s well-being; to encourage amongst children the love for playing sports; connect them with the worlds’ most watched and played sport. Through this initiative, McDonald’s will send one Indian kid to escort a player to the ground at the FIFA WC’s Round of 16 match on June 28th 2014 in Rio de Janeiro, in front of global audience.

Under this program, McDonald’s is facilitating access for nearly 1,400+ children between the age group of 6-10 from across the world to have once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live their dreams of walking onto the field hand-in-hand with their football heroes at the start of each official FIFA World Cup 2014 match.

McDonald’s Player Escort Program is open to all children in India between the age group of 6-10 years. Its’ mechanics are simple- Eager participants have to purchase a HAPPY MEAL (between April 1 to 30, 2014); and give a missed call to a dedicated number; to punch in the ‘Code’ received along with the purchase. Participants will be asked a FIFA related question; and the respondents with all correct answers will qualify for lucky draw.

One lucky winner from the draw will win an-all expense paid trip along with a parent/guardian to FIFA World Cup being organized in Brazil.

McDonald's has numerous events lined up for children in Rio besides escorting the players to the ground…these include football matches for children taking part in the program from around the world, and sight-seeing tours of the city of Rio de Janeiro.

McDonald’s has served as an Official Sponsor and the Official Restaurant of the FIFA World Cup since 1994. The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will be McDonald's sixth FIFA World Cup as a sponsor.
