Korean Cultural Centre gets ready for K-POP Contest 2017 India

K-Pop (Korean Pop) Fans are about to hit the floor in “Gangnam style” this year, as the nationwide ‘K-POP contest 2017 India’ is now open for all Korean music and dance lovers.This year, the contest has expanded from 7 to 11 regions. Each regional round will take place from June to July, which will lead up to the Grand Finale on 29th July 2017.

K-Pop marked its presence in India four years ago through Psy's Gangnam Style. With almost over 70 countries taking part every year, India is also fast pacing with the Hallyu wave (Korean entertainment and Pop culture), and since the year 2012, Korean Cultural Centre India has been organizing the ‘K-POP Contest India’ every year.

Mr. Kim Kum Pyoung, Director of Korean Cultural Centre India, said “This year’s contest will be bigger than ever and amuse all music lovers around India with addictive K-pop songs. We support and encourage the regional rounds organized by K-pop fans to become a festival itself.”

This contest has two categories: Singing and Dancing, which is further divided into three subcategories - Online contest, Preliminary Round and the Grand Finale. Among the uploaded videos, selected contestants will participate in regional rounds held in the following locations, which will witness the grandeur and craze of K-POP 2017: Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Patna, Mumbai, Chennai, Orissa, Hyderabad, Mizoram, Nagaland and another Northeast region. A new K-pop band will be the guest judges and also perform at selected regions and the Grand finale in Delhi.
