Kokuyo Camlin launches unique fan-art based campaign for Baahubali-2
Kokuyo Camlin has introduced a new art-based trailer for Baahubali-2, produced entirely using handcrafted artwork sent in by fans on the brand’s social media pages. The new motion graphics trailer is a part of Kokuyo Camlin’s tie-up with Arka Media Works as the official stationery partner for Baahubali-2.
The trailer has been created by sourcing hand-drawn illustrations through a social media contest and based on scenes from the recently released Baahubali-2. The best artworks have been rendered together with animation and sound effects, to create a visually stunning trailer for the movie. Camlin’s digital agency, Big I Tuna, has conceptualized and executed the campaign.
Sourcing fan-art through social media
Soon after announcing the partnership with Arka Media Works, Camlin launched a contest on social media asking fans to create and submit hand-drawn illustrations for an opportunity to have them featured in the upcoming animated trailer of the movie. Fans were asked to base their illustrations on pre-selected scenes from the TV trailer of Baahubali-2. The entries artwork belonged to different artistic styles and media such water colours, acrylics, sketch pens, pastels and brush pens.
Putting the scenes together
The best entries were chosen for the new art-based trailer. A short-format storyboard was also developed to suit the consumption preferences of social media audiences. The illustrations were converted into digital graphics, where each one was separately animated to infuse motion and depth into the scene. Sound effects from the movie were added and the scenes were rendered together to create the final trailer.
Launch of the trailer
The new animated trailer, created entirely from hand-illustrated fan-art, has been posted on Camlin’s social media pages today. The credits in the trailer contain names of the 14 winners of the social media contest whose artwork was selected.
