Friends of Tribals Society and Ekal Abhiyan presented a musical event 'Sunehre Sur'
In times of social distancing, the virtual endeavour aimed to spread awareness about Ekal Abhiyan and raise funds for supporting education of underprivileged children.
Friends of Tribals Society (FTS), one of the largest non-profit, non-governmental and voluntary organization, headquartered in Kolkata, organized the largest live orchestra performance at the time of lockdown which was streamed on virtual platform and open to all for viewing. Euphonic performance by the Saregama fame winner Sanjeevanai Bhelande and her associate singers Sanjay Sawant, Sarvesh Mishra and Prashant Naseri made the evening memorable for its audience. She was also accompained by a troupe of 30 musicians.
Lakhs of people across India & abroad joined to watch the event over FTS website/Youtube. This musical journey took us back to the soulful music of the golden era. In times of social distancing, this virtual endeavour aimed to spread awareness about Ekal Abhiyan and raise funds for supporting education of underpriveledged children. The concert was promoted by celebrity Vivek Oberoi a strong patron of Ekal movement. Kotak had come forward to support this noble initiative as a lead sponsor. Many other renowed organisations like Century Ply, Amul Macho, Anmol Biscuits, Lux Cozi, Skipper Limited, Prism Jewellery, Saraogi Udyog, Tania Industries, Sage University, RR Kabels and Anand Rathi Group also sponsored this event. People across the globe also contributed whole heartedly donationg for Ekal Vidyalayas during the event . Many also pledeged and made commitment that they will support in future.
Presently , FTS is having a wide network of 34 chapters all over India to serve the rural and tribal community in a better way. It is providing five-fold education namely Functional Literacy, Health Care/ Arogya, Development Education / Gramothan, Empowerment, Ethics & Value Education / Sanskar. More than 28 lakh rural children are being benefited through more than 1 lakh Ekal Vidyalayas which are operative in various remote villages of India.
