Salaam Noni Appa is an inspiring tale of two sisters trying to piece together their lives between loneliness and unexpected friendship laced with laughter, comedy and fun as their lives go along. The play is directed and acted in by the multi-talented artist Lillette Dubey. Salaam Noni Appa has characters of different age groups and the actors are attired in Fabindia apparel whilst the stage and the backdrop of the play will also showcase some Fabindia’s furniture and upholstery collection.

Karan Kumar, Head of Brand and Marketing at Fabindia says, “Fabindia is delighted to present ‘Salaam Noni Appa’ – a contemporary Indian play, written, acted in and directed by acclaimed Indian artists and talent. With this initiative, Fabindia takes a leap in creating a strong theatre property for itself. Theatre for us is a perfect platform to engage with our discerning audiences whilst also providing us an opportunity to present our beautiful and vast craft-inspired product range. Given the initial response this first ever production has received, we are really excited to build on this association – one which could possibly be taken forward to more cities in the future”

The artistic director Lillette Dubey adds, “Theatre has always been my first love, as it offers you infinite choices and possibilities whereas a film (for me) is very restraining unless, of course, it’s a masterpiece. This particular story is close to my heart and I am sure the audience will be able to relate to it. I am also thrilled that one of my favourite brands’ Fabindia has associated with us in this venture. Their apparels and furniture add that extra verve to the play”.

Other prominent cast of the play are Darshan Jariwalla, an acclaimed film, television and stage actor and Jayati Bhatia, a famous television and theatre actress who started her journey with TV serials like Itihaas, Kanyadaan, Kutumb and Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki.

The play has received an overwhelming response at the premier held at the Royal Opera House in Mumbai and at Sirifort auditorium in Delhi. Having covered Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, Salaam Noni Appa will now be touring the cities of Bengaluru, Pune, Jaipur, Kolkata and Hyderabad whilst also returning to Mumbai.
