EEMA announces new leadership team, Sabbas Joseph to relinquish presidency

The Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) has announced the formation of its new leadership team early today morning. While most members continue to hold their existing posts, several new names have been added, particularly those of women and young leaders. Current President Sabbas Joseph shall step down and new EEMA president to be chosen in less than six months.

“For the past three years, we created a formation like geese or migrating seagulls. When the ones in the front were tired, fresh seagulls moved to the front of the formation to take the pressure of the winds that we were flying against. There’s never a need for one set of leaders to remain on the frontline permanently”, said EEMA president Sabbas Joseph in his note to EEMA members announcing the new leadership.

He added, “While forming the new National Leadership Team, we’ve looked at new faces, new energies and new leaders from across the organisation as much as possible. We’ve broad-based ourselves to bring in fresh leaders knowing fully well that the old guard will support the new team as their own. The new team has young leaders and we have several of our women leaders taking pole position. And both of these aspects make me especially proud. I am particularly delighted to welcome Anjali Pasricha, Meenu Varma and Avik Menezes as first-time members of the NEC. There are multiple new faces in the National Working Committee and I’m delighted that we have so many wonderful people as leaders of EEMA companies. However, at the same time I’ve retained some of the best performers of the previous NEC in order to ensure continuity.”

There are separate National Councils being constituted for youth empowerment, women empowerment, health & safety, education & talent development and the first-ever CFOs Council, said Joseph.

Also extending his gratitude to EEMA treasurer Rajeev Jain, who remains among the few founder members of the association, Joseph expressed, “On behalf of the members I’d like to place on record our thanks to Rajeev Jain who requested to be relieved of his responsibilities at the AGM. Rajeev has served in various positions across the NEC over the last 10 years. In the last three years, he has worked tirelessly alongside me on some of the most important initiatives and has also guarded our finances like he would do his own. Thanks Rajeev.” Rajeev Jain has been requested to stay on for a few more weeks while financial administration is put into place along with new EEMA treasurer Ankur Kalra.

At the EEMA Annual General Meeting held on 8 September Joseph had expressed his desire to relinquish the Presidency. However, keeping in mind the requests from the members the transition is being delayed as much as possible in order to ensure smooth handover. The new president shall be instated within six months.
