EE reviews Bajrangi Bhaijaan's promotional tour in Delhi

?

A lot goes into organizing promotional events for a movie; you have to take care of the security, the hospitality, sponsorships, equipments, the ambience and a whole lot of other intricacies.  Basically everything has to be perfect at a promotional event for a movie as the reputation of actors starring in the project is also associated with it. Thus, a lot was expected from the promotional event of Bajrangi Bhaijaan in Delhi yesterday, but what it truly managed to deliver was an abysmal show overall.

The promotional event for the Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer started with, wait, it actually did not start on time. Media and audiences who waited with baited breath to interact with their favorite stars had to wait for hours even before the event could begin. With the invitations for the event been rolled out for 5 PM to most attendees, a few media houses were also invited at 2.30 PM to interact with the empty chairs instead. What could be the reason for the evident confusion in terms of event schedule? Well, lack of organizing capabilities seems to be an obvious answer here.

The event however did start at 6.30 PM with the emcees boring the audiences with PJ’s till then. To pass the time, the trailer of the movie was played at a repeat mode for 4 times and the impatient audience had to then hoot and beg for the trailer to not be played again. The emcees too on realizing the tension building on the faces of attendees disappeared amidst of the event without a second thought.

They came back again, this time with the stars of the film; Salmaan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, director Kabir Khan, and singers Mika, Adnan Sami and Jubin Nautiyal. The audience as expected went absolutely crazy and the emcees whose control on the audience was minimalistic throughout the evening had a hard time asking everyone to take their seats too. The performances began with Adnan Sami, Jubin and Mika performing to their songs from the movie but none apart from Mika was able to woo the audiences.

The interaction with the actors of the film which was supposedly the highlight of the promotional event was too cut short but Salman with his quick witty come backs was able to make the audiences laugh. Kareena however seemed completely off and was somewhere lost in the sea of all the Salman frenzy in the atmosphere. Nawazuddin Siddiqui too was just present at the event. And thus, the event which had an amazing experiential venue of Dusit Devarana, a magnificent star cast and the potential to double the buzz about the upcoming mega starrer ended up being parallel to the magnitude of a small mall activation.  Overall the this promotional event for Bajrangi Bhaijaan ended up much like previous films of Salman Khan, a whole lot of star power but no punch.
