Despite economic slowdown, events and experiential industry grew at 17 % last year
The events industry currently employs over 30K professional in India and continues to grow at a steady rate.
EEMAGINE 2019, the annual conference of the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), began with traditional grandeur at The Pullman Hotel in New Delhi.
Event agencies representing North, East, West and South chapters’ of EEMA converged in huge numbers to participate in this three day conference and awards which is attended by thought leaders’ from brands, events and experiential communities.
This year the theme of EEMAGINE 2019’s is ‘Inspire Innovate and Integrate’. The inspiration behind the theme is the fact that experiential process is the coming together of inspiration, innovation and integration.
Speaking at EEMAGINE 2019, Sanjoy Roy, President EEMA spoke about the events industry’s growing and sustained contribution to economy. He mentioned that industries world over are at the brink of recession barring the events and experiential industry, which is growing at a rate of 17% annually.
“The idea behind the conference is to start thinking, to discuss debate and rationalize. The brands today needs to deliver a 360 degrees solution to customers. For this to happen we all need to put on our thinking hats and contribute in the direction”, said Roy.
He further added, “Over 30,000 people are involved in this industry across the country and our effort at EEMA is to bring all of them under one umbrella. The need to be one is important, and we want our voices to be heard by the government, we want the government to build the industry.”
He also stated that during the last year under the aegis of the Director General, EEMA has consistently reached out to the government and the regulators to address issues concerning the events industry.
Roy also underlined the need to celebrate diversity and how EEMA was playing a big role in ensuring it.
