When was the last time you took a pause in your life and thought about the sacred core in and around yourself? Well, if like me the answer to your question is 'No' too, then Shree Cement The Sacred Pushkar festival is truly the place for you to be at.

An initiative of the Rajasthan Government and Shree Cement, the three day festival that inspires and encourages well-being, tranquility and self-discovery through music, yoga and meditation kicked off yesterday at the pious ghats of Pushkar and left people stunned on how the simplicity of the concept can emerge as one of the biggest advantages for a festival.

Many who sat in the audience like me were anxious from the get go about how will teamwork arts marry the three concepts together. But as soon as the Maha Aarti began, all our questions were answered without anyone having to say a word. The stunning backdrop of Raj Bohra Ghat in Pushkar illuminated with a thousand Dias and lights was simply a treasure to cherish. And, hence from the very start of the event itself the attendees were hooked.

What followed next was the Vedic Chants and a special drum performance by Nathulal Swalanki and his troop. With 52 Nagaras being synchronized to perfection, Nathulal Swalanki added a distinct charm to the event all together aptly proving the reason behind their shining legacy of 13 generations in the Pushkar Gharana.

The Grammy Certificate winner, Sunil Kant Gupta added the spiritual quotient to the evening with his performance. Even those who had no idea about the classical Indian music could be seen thoroughly engrossed after his rendition of Rag Yaman and Vande Matram added honey to their ears.

However, the one who truly stole the show was the Padma Shri  winner Shubha Mudgal with her incredible performance. Her classical recital left the attendees wandering in a world of their own. A stunning backdrop to cherish alongside the best musical performances on a lovely winter night with a cup of tea. Does it get any better than this? The night ended with fireworks lighting up the magnificent Pushkar sky adding the final touch to a splendid evening.

Though the entire experience of day one at the sacred festival was divine but the event was not without a few loopholes in execution. Coming to the technicalities, was Shree Cement The Sacred Pushkar the best festival by Teamwork Arts? No, it was not. The event did not start on time and even suffered a few technological glitches. But what makes The Sacred stand out is its essence and the fact that it delivered more than what it promised to me.

I was assured a great evening allowing me to spiritually connect with my own self and Teamwork Arts had perfectly created an event for the same. From the scenic beauty of numerous dias lighting up the Pushkar Ghants to the surreal performances by notable artists in country, the festival had something to offer to everyone and once can easily foresee the 'The Sacred' emerging as one of the most popular festival of its kind in the upcoming years.
