DNA Networks’ Sound Awake, Edition II

It seemed the overcast skies and the rain only added to the second edition of the Sound Awake experience. The festival that took place in Bangalore, Karnataka on December 1, 2013 saw thousands of fans braving the rain to witness the grand headlining performance of American DJ/ Producer Steve Aoki among others such as Congo Rock (best known for his hit single Babylon) and Jacob Plant.

Sound Awake, the electronic music property of DNA Networks, in its second year, brought forth a single platform for performances by top national and international artistes on a 150 ft long dynamic stage. Pepsi and Indigo FM were among the main sponsors for the event.



World’s number 8 DJ (#DJ Mag) and one of the major headliners at Sound Awake, Steve Aoki brought his signature experience to his Maiden Indian Music festival. Post his packed gig at Sound Awake India tour he said, “I’m very every sad to go back from India. I love this country! You guys are fantastic.”

We once again had the Flea Markets from Goa which was a crowd favorite this time too.”



The influence of this genre of music on the audience has been tremendous over the last decade. DNA aspires to contribute to it and widen the reach of this thriving genre in India. The festival featured 4 stages and was held in collaboration with dance record label giants Ministry of Sound and HedKandi. In tandem with the world’s top dance record labels, DNA with Sound Awake aims to bring the best of the world’s EDM to India.



The performances were accompanied by other features that include the world famous Goan flea markets, gaming zones, F&B areas, a 150 foot long 3 in 1 stage, Canara Bank mobile ATM van on ground to aid audience with their needs, hygienic ultramodern permanent toilets unlike the usual mobile toilets, rain coats and loyalty cards for every ticket holder to enable cashless transactions. Tickets for Sound Awake were priced at Rs. 1,500.



The festival was held at Supernova Arena & Convention Centre, Yelahanka, Airport Road, Bangalore-560064- the newest addition to other live entertainment areas in Bangalore.
