Corona Downtime- The one thing you can do while waiting for the end of civilization: Sachit Bhatia
The pubs are closed, the invitations have dried up, and now finally we have no excuse not to look ‘inwards’ and think what all we can do to remove stress permanently from our lives writes Sachit Bhatia.
We have a lot of time now… something that we didn’t have till about a couple of weeks back… suddenly a few extra hours have appeared (more for those who are ‘Working From Home’ but are mostly watching Netflix in their boxers).
The pubs are closed, the invitations have dried up, and now finally we have no excuse not to look ‘inwards’ and think what all we can do to remove stress permanently from our lives… or at least make life less stressful and happier going forward.
I have been following a few things for years (cos I always had a lot of time… if time is money I am Bill Gates)… but you can try this 1 thing right now and may be make it a habit even after Corona is long gone:
Thing # 1 – Simplify
I wear a black round neck tee every day… yes you read it right… EVERYDAY. I have 28 of those… they are inexpensive, comfortable, and make me look thin (the magic of black… people still say I look fat but that’s a discussion for another day).
I do not hoard goods. I do not buy unless I need to or unless it’s a book (I like to have a full book rack to impress my guests… and also read sometimes).
My last indulgence was a Chevy Cruz 6 years back and I soon realized that fast cars don’t necessarily get you laid. May be many didn’t get laid and Chevrolet had to shut shop.
So unless it’s totally necessary I don’t like to buy stuff and clutter my space.
I don’t waste time in traffic. I don’t go to any party if it’s more than 10 kms away. Obviously birthdays and marriages are an exception… but only first marriage. If you are changing your spouse every 3 years like a leased car and throwing a party outside of Gurgaon… count me out.
I do feel like partying sometime. That’s the time I call all my friends. And if both of them agree we meet and party.
In nutshell SIMPLIFY. LESS is MORE.
You will have fewer worries, more time, and a fashion sense that can make you look thin.
If you need help in this give me a shout… as you know now I have a lot of time.
