Celebrating ‘Media That Empowers’ With IIMC Media Mahakumbh
To celebrate the power of an inclusive media and highlight the contribution of women in the field, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi is organising its annual media fest, the Media Mahakumbh, on 8th and 9th March, 2019, in association with Facebook, ScoopWhoop and Ministry of AYUSH.
The spirit of an independent media in a democracy as sturdy as ours resides in our agency to democratise the public discourse and provide an inclusive platform for discussing opinions and orientations across the ideological spectrum. To celebrate the power of an inclusive media and highlight the contribution of women in the field, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi is organising its annual media fest, the Media Mahakumbh, on 8th and 9th March, 2019, in association with Facebook, ScoopWhoop and Ministry of AYUSH.
A festival bigger and better than before, a perfect amalgamation of knowledge and creativity – Media Mahakumbh aims to provide everyone with a platform to empower and be empowered. Dr Anubhuti Yadav, Festival Director, believes that the two-day festival will not only serve as a platform to discuss numerous socially-relevant issues, but will also bring together all the stakeholders in the media industry - from media students who stand at the brink of joining the industry to seasoned professionals who have firmly established their space in the volatile media landscape.
Dr Annurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld & exchange4media Group will share his inspiring journey with the students and professionals during the inaugural session on March 8 at 10 a.m. To mark the occasion of the International Women’s Day, the festival will also celebrate the transition of women from fitting into glass slippers to shattering glass ceilings. A highlight of the festival will be ‘The Media Maha Summit’; a panel discussion that provides a platform to media connoisseurs to share their unheard stories and experiences, enlightening and encouraging young media enthusiasts. The summit will be held on the March 8, 10:30 to 11:30 am, at the Mahatma Gandhi Manch, Indian Institute of Mass Communication. This panel discussion on ‘Women Achievers’, moderated by Dr. Anubhuti Yadav will host some of the most prominent women of the media industry. Celebrated media dignitaries including Smita Prakash; Group Editor, Asian News International (ANI), Ritu Kapur; Co-founder & CEO, Quintillion Media, Sheetal Rajput; Managing Editor, JanTantra TV, Shruti Jain; Marketing & Communication Specialist and Sakshi Joshi; Prime-time Anchor & Special Correspondent for News 24, along with some of IIMC’s distinguished faculty members.
With thirteen competitive events, the fest will also serve as a breeding ground for disruptively creative ideas! Featuring events such as the Media Quiz, TV reporting competition ‘Perfect Prastuti’, marketing competition ‘Seal the Deal’, lab journal competition ‘The Fine Print’, and radio-spot competition ‘Talaash-e-Awaaz’, IIMC is all set to showcase the power of path-breaking ideas. If you are on the prowl for some refreshing sights to get your creative juices flowing, come and witness some breath-taking performances during ‘MahaNatya’ - Street theatre competition, ‘Jump Street’ - Dance competition and ‘Battle of bands’.
A key highlight of the fest will be a performance by India’s most celebrated classical dancer and Padma Vibhushan awardee Dr. Sonal Mansingh on the afternoon of March 8. Dr Mansingh’s performance ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ will be an ode to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan launched by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi.
