In today's visual world, you are - your visiting card! Hence, personal grooming serves as one of the topmost qualifications apart from your resume. How you look is an obsession not only at a personal level but also at a professional level. Here’s how to do it in style.
CONSULT THE MIRROR
When you look at yourself in the mirror, you should be the one to fall in love with yourself before the world does. So in this one life, you should try out everything that will make you look and feel better. We all have different ideas about a ‘good lifestyle’. But, when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, most of us would agree that it is driven by activities such as adequate exercise, balanced diet, optimum rest and ways to de-stress. In reality, however, balancing life and work becomes a challenge. I have realised that planning backwards always helps. Well, I manage to juggle them all my way.
PACKAGE YOURSELF BETTER
By nature, we admire things that are attractive not just people. We want our gadgets, cars, houses and every other product to be well packaged. So when we need to live up to that golden standard for ourselves and the world, what do we do? Try to be the best version of ourselves, right? While it sounds inspiring, you need to arm yourself with pen and paper to get started.
According to popular belief, it takes 21 days to form a habit. Till then behave like a robot and do what needs to be done without a lot thinking.
STAGES BEFORE GOING ON STAGE
These are things that I have done to get closer to my goal.
Firstly, look for a gym or a fitness hub closet to your house. There won’t be any excuse for missing out on daily workout sessions. Try to keep it to the mornings for more effective results. Also, you can keep changing the type of exercise every 2-3 months to keep challenging your body.
Next, buy food items that are not going to make you fat. I have very little self-control when it comes to chocolates, so I don’t stock them up in the refrigerator. When I am hungry I have no choice but to eat a healthier substitute for all those cravings. You should always read the labels for the ingredient details before making your selection. ‘Fat free’, ‘sugar free’, ‘salt free’, ‘gluten free’ etc might be only a marketing gimmick.
Thirdly, sleeping late leads to weight gain, bad skin and hair and mood swings. So plan your night outs smartly. You cannot catch-up on one night’s sleep on another night or day. Hence focus on your priority and plan accordingly.
Finally, cortisol is the stress hormone that can ruin it all, so don’t give in to any kind of unnecessary stress. Find your way to understand the situation, be calm and de-stress. While Meditation seems to be in fashion, the truth is it works and all you need to do is invest 5 mins of your time daily.
HOW TO KEEP GOING
The only question that you need to ask yourself is - Who am I doing this for?
If the answer is - 'Myself' then you will not need any more motivation. So do what makes you truly happy.
