The 2-day Delhi Theatre Festival which premiered last year in New Delhi now has an extension. “Spotlight” would be an year long season of theatre in NCR. Last year, DTF featured some of the biggest names from theatre such as Naseeruddin Shah, Rajit Kapur, Deepti Naval, Shekhar Suman, Saurabh Shukla etc. Many of the theatre stalwarts will now be seen in its subsidiary brand, Spotlight, this month.

Pegged as 'India’s First Season Theatre', the event will feature 11 plays over 16 shows in Delhi NCR, engaging more than 20,000 audience. The confirmed productions to be showcased include Ek Mulaqaat and Broken Images. Additionally Delhi Theatre Festival will also return this year for its second edition making 2018 a treat for all theatre enthusiasts in the city.

The “Spotlight” initiative is in its debut year and is a brainchild of Alchemist Marketing and Talent Solutions who wish to bring the theatre culture to the city. The company’s known for its annual production of Anoushka Shankar’s concerts, as well as for organizing shows and live entertainment not just in India, but abroad.

Performing on the inaugural evening of the year-long festival Spotlight, Shekhar Suman comments- “It is commendable to see how theatre acts are gaining prominence in the capital city and opportunities like Spotlight will only add to the overall fervour. I always feel a special connect with Delhi and performing there only makes this bond strong. I, along with my co-star Deepti Naval, will be presenting our romantic drama Ek Mulaqaat under the Spotlight banner.”
