1. From being a vendor to their buddy -

First and foremost, can’t emphasise enough on getting to know the couple and the families, as much as you can. It is important to understand their cultures, traditions, the story behind the union, key characteristics of the couple, etc. to create what is unique about THEM on every wedding, consistently. Get acquainted with the family, friends, and the couple, be a part of the celebrations while still being unobtrusive. It’s pretty important to get to know who the mains (family & friends closest to the bride & groom), make them comfortable with yourself and your camera in order to help them express themselves freely and candidly. Remember that you are not just shooting a wedding, you have been entrusted to capture, a once in a lifetime event in their lives and create lifetime memories out of all those days of celebration. The idea is to just mirror how things, people, and the couple are so that they can preserve all of this together in its very own form.

2. Luxury and Personalisation go hand in hand -

Luxury Weddings these days are mindfully themed around the couple personalities, their interests, passions, etc. in terms of everything like the Event Decor, Entertainment, Cuisines, their invites, stationery, so why should Photography take a back seat in customisation. Look for a hook in that particular story, the basis that connects their tale in its own unique way by being observant right from the beginning, this shall help you form a storyline in your wedding project and build the content around that storyline. Keeping a note of how every couple is unique and every wedding is a unique affair sounds basic but is very essential to add that right substance to each story that you witness. Personalisation in your services and style of shooting followed in post-production goes a long way. This can be achieved by keeping in mind even the smallest aspect like what kind of profile do the bride & groom like for their images. Or something as deep as understanding their taste in music and maybe coming up with a personalised background score for their wedding film. The goal should be able to capture what makes them beautiful and reflect it back at them.

3. Understanding the complexity -

Every luxury wedding is a well thought out and curatively planned carnival. With back-to-back events, several ceremonies and celebrations happening with unique setups, different requirements and lighting conditions, it becomes pretty essential for the Photographer to understand the detailed hour by hour itinerary. Gear towards planning the logistics, understanding the lighting as per every ambience, the entertainment, the celebrity artists, the audio setups, the show flow – all of this together shall together help you plan the equipment. Furthermore, scout the locations, understand the weather, plan out the right backdrops and how the light might come into play. Weddings, specifically luxury weddings are the only form of photography, that allows you to create all kinds of content. To mention a few: Massively decorated venues as for interiors, the couples who curate their looks as good as fashion models for their portraits, followed by the real-time fun, celebrations and shenanigans that bring a journalistic approach to the whole story. Decoding each and every element in a luxury wedding is the key.

4. Be unconventional -

A brain is a fascinating thing. As an artist, every piece of information added to your brain today influences all your creations. So, it stands to reason that a regular brain diet of similar influences with the usual solutions to indistinguishable circumstances will just lead you to mediocrity. When you have got the safe shots covered, it is important to bring your own artistic vision in the way the wedding is being captured, push yourself in creating something which intricately captures the true essence of the wedding. After your briefing with the client and once you have a fair idea of their choices and preferences, it is best advised to do some brainstorming on setting their exclusive storyline. Curate ideas that would reflect in the images and even the wedding films and to get this executed it’s important to align the teams, accordingly. Even a bunch of 15-20 great and out of the box images can make a huge difference, in the whole wedding data set.

5. Prepare in Anticipation -

Many little things can go wrong in Luxury Big Fat Indian weddings, so do ensure you have backup plans. Make sure everything is working as per the plan and things that are not going as planned are well taken care of, beforehand. Keep a thorough check on the weather, the schedules, the arrival of the bride and the groom, if there are any VVIP guests, their security protocols can be troublesome, etc. Strive to find opportunities in moments, tiny or bizarre moments at times can bring you great results. Thinking on your feet surely does wonders.
