Plastic bottles from the idol to be converted into lubricant fuel

Cleanliness is next to Godliness! Being inspired by this age old proverb and in sync with our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visionary ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ initiative, Seawoods Grand Central Mall has embraced an eco-friendly way of celebrating the auspicious Ganesh Chaturthi festival. In a first-of-its-kind initiative at a mall in India, over 10,800 plastic bottles were used to create a mosaic of Lord Ganesha idol which will be later recycled and converted into lubricant fuel. Guests can seek blessings from Bappa on all days till 12th September, 2019.

On the occasion, SGC Mall has roped in waste plastic management specialists, Rudra En Solutions, for this noble cause which will recycle over 300 kgs of plastics used to make the idol. The idol was made by celebrated artist Abaasaheb Shewale and his team. 200 ml bottles painted in red, black, blue, green, yellow and white were used to create the idol in four days. For this distinct deed SGC Mall had launched a donation drive where in it invited its guests to come forward and donate their used plastic bottles.

The arrival of the benevolent deity brings in happiness and prosperity in the life of millions but this is being overshadowed by the detrimental effects caused by the usage of plastics and through improper plastic waste management. Being a responsible corporate, SGC Mall aims to make its patrons aware of the harmful effects of plastic and how better plastic waste management is the responsibility of everyone.

The team is also attempting to create records in the Unique Book of Records and India Book of Records.

So come forward and be a part of this environment friendly Ganpati celebration at Seawoods Grand Central Mall!
