Kashish LGBTQ+ Film Festival: Total 221 Films From 53 Countries To Be Screened

It will be a hybrid film festival with a physical festival being held from June 1-5th at Liberty Cinema and Alliance Française de Bombay and an online festival from June 3-12.

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival – South Asia’s Biggest and India’s first mainstream lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender film festival –  is back with physical screenings for its 13th edition. 

The festival will be held from June 1-5, 2022 at the iconic liberty cinema and from June 2-4, 2022 at Alliance Française de Bombay. Founded in 2010, KASHISH was voted as one of the Top 5 LGBT film festivals in the world and was the first Indian LGBT festival to be held with approval by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Government of India.  

Key highlights for this year will be--- 184 films, from 53 countries, 30 Indian LGBTQ+ films will be screened at the festival comprising narrative & documentary features and short films, 42 films will compete for top awards at the festival in 9 categories.

The Jury members comprise of acclaimed filmmakers Leena Yadav & Hardik Mehta and theater personality Sameera Iyengar (Narrative Jury); filmmakers Priti Chandriani & Anjali Panjabi and DOP Ramanuj Dutta (Docu jury); and film academician Anupam Barve, film critic Prathyush Parasurama and London based author Raga D'Silva (Student Shorts jury) 

The opening film is the Malayalm film Antharam, starring Negha S., a real life transgender actress from Chennai. Negha along with Abhijith Pulparambath, the director of the film will be present at the screening.
